Why Choose BODÉ™ Spa for Men for Laser Hair Removal?

Trusted Estheticians. Proven Technology. Results That Last.

At BODÉ™ Spa for Men, we believe confidence starts with knowing you’re in the right hands.
Laser hair removal is everywhere now but not every spa uses the same technology, training, or safety standards. That’s why we did the research for you. From decades-old systems still in circulation to next-generation platforms, we compared them all before choosing the one that met our standards for precision, comfort, and safety.

Not All Lasers Are Created Equal.

Laser hair removal isn’t one-size-fits-all. There are multiple laser types and each performs differently based on skin tone, hair thickness, and treatment area. Skin tone is the primary factor when comparing laser types. Skin tone is measured on the Fitzpatrick scale from I through to VI. The scale classifies how skin reacts to sun: from very fair (I- burns easily) to very deep (VI - rarely burns).

Here’s what we found when we compared the most common systems:

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light)

Often called “laser”, IPL isn’t technically a laser. It’s a broad-spectrum light that targets pigment in the hair follicle. The difference? Think spotlight vs. floodlight. Lasers use a single, specific wavelength with focused energy; IPL uses many wavelengths, so energy is less specific and spreads more in the upper skin layers. That spread makes IPL excellent for skin rejuvenation, but more limited for inclusive hair removal.

✅ Great for: lighter skin tones (Fitzpatrick I–III)
✅ Also helps with: sun damage, redness, rosacea, pigmentation
⚠️ Caution: darker skin types (Fitzpatrick IV–VI) risk pigmentation changes

Takeaway: IPL is effective for fair to medium tones and skin rejuvenation, but not ideal for darker skin.

Diode Laser

The Diode Laser is widely considered the gold standard for permanent hair reduction. It safely targets hair at the follicle level and works effectively across all skin types (Fitzpatrick I–VI) with minimal discomfort.

✅ Great for: all skin tones
✅ Advantages: fast, less painful, fewer sessions
✅ Most modern systems have adjustable safety parameters

Takeaway: Diode Lasers deliver safe, consistent results for every skin tone

Alexandrite Laser

The Alexandrite Laser works best for lighter skin tones (Fitzpatrick I–III) and fine to medium hair. It’s gentle and effective but not suitable for darker complexions.

✅ Great for: fair to olive skin tones
⚠️ Limited for: deeper tones (Fitzpatrick IV–VI)

Takeaway: Excellent for lighter tones but too restrictive

Nd:YAG Laser

Designed for darker skin tones (Fitzpatrick V–VI), Nd:YAG lasers reach deep into the skin without damaging the surface. They’re powerful but often less comfortable and slower to treat fine or lighter hairs.

✅ Great for: darker tones, coarse hair
⚠️ Less effective for: light or thin hair

Takeaway: Effective but not ideal as an all-in-one solution for men’s varied hair and skin types.

Ruby Laser

The Ruby Laser was the first hair-removal laser ever developed. It’s safe for light skin and fine hair but outdated and slow.

✅ Works for: very light skin + fine hair
⚠️ Outdated technology and limited scope

Takeaway: Ruby Lasers are obsolete, replaced by advanced systems like the Diode and Nd:YAG.

The BODÉ™ Choice: The Alpha Diode Laser + 3D IPL System

Most spas use a single device chosen for cost or convenience. We chose differently.

After extensive testing, BODÉ™ Spa for Men selected the Alpha Diode Laser + 3D IPL system, the only dual-function device that pairs Diode Laser power with 3D IPL versatility.

Why? Because we wanted a system that could:

  • Treat all six Fitzpatrick skin types safely

  • Deliver fast, virtually pain-free treatments

  • Provide rejuvenation options for tone, pigmentation, and acne

  • Deliver consistent results for men’s thicker, denser hair

The Alpha Laser does all that and more.

What Makes the Alpha Laser Unmatched

  • PowerMotion™ Technology: Continuous high-fluence pulses in one pass making it faster, safer, more efficient.

  • 808 nm Diode wavelength: The gold standard for permanent hair reduction.
MILO™ Melanin Reader: A digital sensor that measures your exact skin pigment so treatments can be safely customized.

  • Advanced Cooling System: Keeps the skin cool while energy targets the follicle for maximum comfort.

  • 3D IPL Integration: Expands treatment possibilities to include photofacials, rosacea, sun damage, and acne.

Results: Up to 16% better hair reduction, in one-third the time, with no downtime.
