4 things to do before your vacation

4 things to do before your vacation

Everyone needs a vacation; spending some time away to recharge their batteries and maybe even try something new and exciting.

Whether you’re planning a sunny getaway or a snowy retreat, here are 4 things we recommend to prepare your body before your vacation to:

1. Prep your feet

Have a perdicure before your trip. Whether your feet will be wrapped up in wooly socks and boots, or freely walking along sandy beaches barefoot, a pedicure will give you the peace of mind that your feet are ready for the trip you have planned (and that they look good).

Corns, cracked heels, involuted nails, ingrown nails: all of these conditions can be painful and impact the enjoyment of your trip. For expert advice and treatment, book your appointment with a Certified Master Pedicurist (CMP), as they are trained in recognizing and treating these conditions. Don’t let pain ruin your fun!

2. Groom your hair

Body grooming is a very popular step that lots of men undergo before a trip. You should feel confident on your trip; whether you’re lounging by a pool in shorts and T-shirt, soaking in a hot tub in a bathing suit, or warming up by a fire in jeans and a sweater.

Body grooming options available are waxing, sugaring, shaving, and clipping. You don’t have to choose only one; you can definitely mix-and-match to create the look that you want.

If you intend to wax or sugar, we recommend you book your appointment 1 week before your vacation so as to avoid possible irritation or reactions.
If you intend to shave or clip, 1-2 days before your trip is enough time.

3. Exfoliate your skin

Prep your body with a thorough scrub.
Running away somewhere warm and want to come back looking tanned? Exfoliating your skin using a scrub or exfoliation towel will help prevent a patchy, peeling tan and will help your tan last longer.
Choosing a winter wonderland instead? Avoid flaking skin and get rid of itchy, dry skin by exfoliating your skin with a scrub the same way.

If you choose to do any body grooming (wax/sugar/shave), continue to scrub your skin daily with an exfoliation towel to prevent in-grown hairs from occurring.

4. Pack Sunscreen

1 in every 59 Canadian men will develop skin cancer. We can’t emphasize enough the importance of protecting your skin. Using sunscreen with SPF helps protect your skin from the damaging UV rays of the sun. Even if you’re choosing a winter trip, snow is very reflective, and those UV rays are bouncing off the snow and hitting your face.

SPF protects not only your health, but also your appearance. It can minimize the aging effect of UVA rays. It can also help prevent skin discoloration; example: having a darker face than your body.

We recommend using a mineral sunscreen, containing zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide. Mineral sunscreens offer great protection and usually don’t feel greasy or won’t run in your eyes

You invested time and money into planning your vacation, so make sure that you get everything you want out of it. Feel amazing and be safe!
